Consulting Services

ABConsulting focuses on the design and development of systems that require the storage, retrieval and analysis of time series and historical data. This includes database design, data loading and database updating, server and middleware components, and client-side GUI applications. We have experience with both financial and public sector clients, and in particular have extensive expertise in handling the particular needs of national central banks and statistical agencies. We have strong knowledge of FAME database technology and provide consulting with all aspects of its use. This includes the use of the FAME Query language, C and Java API's, and third party extensions in Perl and Python. In particular we specialize in audits of systems implemented in FAME providing ways for:
  • More efficient data access and processing.
  • More modular and maintainable design.
  • Better integration with Microsoft and Java Environment
While much of our background lies with FAME technology our cored expertise is in the underlying problems and issues involved with dealing with time series data. This includes expertise in both Java and Python and we are constantly exploring new ways of handling historical data. In particular, we are also prepared to help those who have decided to migrate to alternative systems such as Oracle, mySQL, BerkeleyDB and K/KDB.

FAME Training

ABConsulting with over fourteen years of expertise in training offers a complete array of FAME training courses.

The training emphasizes a flexible hands-on approach that focuses on concrete problems that are directly relevant to the students. The training consists of a series of short lectures and exercises. The frequent exercises test the key points made in lecture and build upon knowledge from previous lectures. The students are encouraged, not just to ask questions but also to articulate the actual tasks they will be addressing with FAME technology; in turn a continual effort is made to adapt the lectures to these newly articulated issues. As a result students are able to quickly apply the knowledge learned in the course.
